Caledon Fair – A Century of Community, Celebrated Online

Project Overview

At WeGo, we are proud to highlight our partnership with the Caledon Fair (caledonfair.ca), one of Ontario’s finest agricultural events. The Caledon Agricultural Society (CAS) has been operating the Caledon Fairgrounds at 18297 Hurontario Street (Highway 10) in Caledon Village since 1926 — nearly a century of community tradition. The CAS board is comprised entirely of volunteers who dedicate their time to running events at the fairgrounds, with all proceeds directed toward property maintenance and ensuring these beloved community events continue for generations to come.

Client Collaboration

Our primary contact is Glenda Simeone, with whom we work closely throughout the year. We also collaborate regularly with the fair’s secretary and the team responsible for vendor registration — a group of dedicated volunteers who put considerable effort into making each year’s event a success. Like several of our agricultural fair partnerships, this one extends beyond the screen: Doug attends the Caledon Fair annually with his camera, capturing the competitions and attractions firsthand and putting those images to work across the site.

Design and Development

The site was rescued and redeveloped on our WordPress technology stack, addressing the improvements the CAS knew they needed from the start. The website now serves a multi-event mandate — prominently promoting the flagship annual fair each June while also providing clear information for two additional events hosted on the grounds throughout the year: a horse tack swap and the Canada Day Strawberry Festival. When the site is doing its job well, each event gets its moment in the spotlight without competing with or overshadowing the others.

Challenges and Solutions

A recent priority was upgrading the vendor registration system to give the vendor committee better tools for managing applications on the back end. Registrations are now collected through a structured contact form with specific, targeted questions, and responses feed directly into a shared Google Sheet — allowing the volunteer team to divide the work of reviewing applications and preparing vendors for the fair efficiently and collaboratively. It’s a practical, low-friction solution that fits the realities of a volunteer-run organization.

Results and Impact

Fresh photography is a cornerstone of the site’s ongoing relevance. Images captured at the fair each June are added to competition and attraction pages throughout the season and compiled into an annual photo gallery — keeping the site visually current and giving returning visitors something new to discover each year. The Caledon Fair is a standout event in Ontario’s agricultural calendar, featuring excellent motorsports and a superb all-day horse show on Saturdays, showcasing horses of every size. It deserves a website that reflects that quality, and we are committed to delivering exactly that.

Reflecting Agency Excellence

The Caledon Fair exemplifies the kind of long-term, community-rooted partnership that WeGo is built for. Supporting a volunteer-driven agricultural society with nearly 100 years of history — and helping them reach their community effectively across three annual events — is exactly the kind of meaningful work we take pride in.
