216 Non-Dithering Cross-Platform Web Colours

Web Safe Colours are a set of colours that will display the same in all browsers using 256 colour mode (the most common display capability) regardless of the operating system or the browser used to display the image. These colours are safe to use to create backgrounds, fonts, or images, that don't dither on the Web.

The Browser-Safe Palette only contains 216 colors out of a possible 256. That is because the remaining 40 colors vary on Macs and PCs. By eliminating the 40 variable colors, this palette is optimized for cross-platform use.
